Stonemason Cook Islands is now open, proudly based in Avarua and servicing all of Rarotonga. We are the only stonemason and memorial headstone company based here in Avarua, which means you are dealing with a local team who understands our people, our places and the importance of getting it right.

When it comes to putting up a headstone, we know how important it is for our families. It is about remembering our loved ones properly and creating something that will last for years to come.

We offer a full service including design, supply and install, so everything can be taken care of locally without the hassle of going offshore. We will sit down with you, talk through what you want and make sure it is done right.

Our process 

1. Initial Consultation
Meet with our team in Avarua or via video call to discuss your ideas, preferences, budget, and any special requirements.
2. Choosing a Memorial
Select the stone, size, colour, and finish that best reflects your loved one and your family's wishes.
3. Design & Inscriptions
We will work with you to create the inscription, including names, dates, photographs, symbols, and any personal wording you would like included.
4. Quote & Confirmation
A detailed quote will be provided, including materials, workmanship, shipping, and installation where required. Once accepted, your memorial order will be confirmed.
5. Design Approval
You will receive a proof of the design to review and approve before production begins.
6. Production
Your memorial will be crafted at our Whakatāne workshop or completed at our Avarua base. If produced in Whakatāne, it will be shipped to Rarotonga. Production and shipping typically take around 60 days.
7. Installation
Once completed, the memorial will be installed at the chosen burial site or made available for collection by you or your whānau.
8. Ongoing Care
We can provide advice on caring for your memorial to help preserve its appearance and quality for years to come.

For more than 40 years, our family has been helping whānau create meaningful and lasting memorials throughout the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island. Over that time, we have also had the privilege of serving families across the Cook Islands, helping honour loved ones with care, respect, and quality craftsmanship.  To better support Cook Islands families, Stonemasons Cook Islands was established, providing local service and guidance from our base in Avarua. Each memorial is crafted by our skilled team in Whakatāne and supported locally in Rarotonga, ensuring a seamless process from design through to installation.
